Literature as mirror of the society
Literature Mirrors the ills of the society with a view to make the society realize its mistakes and make amends. It also projects the virtues and values in the society for people to emulate. Literature – as an imitation of human actions, presents a picture what people think, say and do in the society. It reflects and comments on aspects of things people encounter in their daily lives. The novel The River and The Source (1994) by Margaret Ogola , reflects life despite the fact that its world is alien to the modern human being. The relationship between literature and society is connected with each other. Literature is a reflection of the society where it is generated. Literature is created only on the base of ordinary life. The beauty of the society, its prosperity and its good manners is based on literature only. There are some factors of social power or essential force, social trouble or dislike and social civilization or bad manners that effect literature.
